Welcome to Art Therapy

The Art Therapy Program at Wayne State University prepares art therapists who are reflective and innovative professionals, who have the commitment, competence, and personal qualities to help others acquire skills and understandings necessary for quality of life, and to lead art therapy education, practice, and research in Michigan.

In upholding the mission of the university, as well as the College of Education, the program places special emphasis on providing art therapy service to the Detroit metropolitan community through its service-learning philosophy. The program is eclectic in its orientation, offering a variety of perspectives on art therapy from its faculty who are art therapy leaders in the state.
